T he persistence with which Mitsubishi developed the Concept GH-PHEV on international exhibition stages is unusual in the fast-moving automotive business. The futuristic chunk could already be seen at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013. With the recent presentation of the Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV at the current Chicago Auto Show 2015, the Japanese are at least making it clear that they like their concept.

Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV shows upcoming Pajero

The Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV is more than just a pointer to the shape of the future Mitsubishi Pajero, that already makes the dimensions clear. 4.93 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.98 meters high - that's a full-fledged off-road vehicle format. There is enough space in the hut, as it should be for a long off-roader.

In the Concept GC-PHEV (stands for: Grand Cruiser Plug-in Hybrid Electrical Vehicle) Mitsubishi combines a supercharged three-liter V6 petrol engine (335 HP) with a 94 HP electric motor. It draws its juice from a 12 kWh battery, which can either be recharged at the socket at home or refilled while driving. The engine duo is managed by an eight-speed automatic. Mitsubishi does not provide any information on the possible driving performance, but does on the allegedly achievable consumption values: 6.7 liters in normal operation and around 40 kilometers of electric range.

While the shape and engine do not seem too futuristic, has the spacey interior of the Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV in this form guarantees no chance of series production anytime soon - unfortunately. Because even for a concept car with the command screen in the middle, it is really crazy.

We present the concept car to you in detail in the picture gallery.
