1 996 the Mercedes SLK poked its nose in for the first time Fahrtwind, the third generation of the retractable roof roadster will be launched in 2011 and its nose is significantly higher than its predecessor. The new, more upright radiator grille in the style of the Mercedes SLS is due to the requirements of pedestrian protection.

Mercedes made a virtue out of necessity and immediately optimized the proportions of the new Mercedes SLK with a longer aluminum bonnet. Newly shaped clear glass headlights round off the new Mercedes SLK front so skilfully that the drag coefficient fell from 0.32 to 0.30.

Folding roof in three variations

The eye wanders of the beholder, there are new ventilation grilles in the front aluminum fenders, newly shaped rear fenders that now cover the trunk joint and taillights that are equipped with pure LED technology. Also on board is the Airscarf neck heating. But even with the roof closed, the new Mercedes SLK offers completely new charms. As an option to the painted sheet metal roof, the Mercedes SLK can be equipped with a glass panorama roof. This is topped by the glass roof with Magic Sky Control. This can be switched light or dark at the push of a button.

The turntable wind deflector is also new in the Mercedes SLK. Two small plastic elements can be rotated between the roll bar in the wind flow and so calm it.

There is a choice of three motors

The newly arranged interior of the Mercedes aims for a higher quality and more comfort SLK. The basic version already has brushed aluminum trim. These are optionally replaced by fine wood parts. The new air vents are supposed to bring a touch of SLS to the Mercedes SLK. The round instruments of the Mercedes SLK flank a display for information from the on-board computer. The color display for communication and entertainment functions is located in the middle of the instrument panel. As standard, the new Mercedes SLK engines should bring less instead of more in terms of consumption. All of them have a start-stop system as standard. The basic engine in the new Mercedes SLK is a 1.8-liter turbo four-cylinder, which has 184 hp in the SLK 200 and 204 hp in the SLK 250. With a manual six-speed gearshift, the two-seater runs at a top speed of 240 km /h. If the optional seven-speed automatic is ordered, consumption is 6.1 liters (CO2: 142 g /km), the sprint time is 7.0 seconds and the top speed is 237 km /h.

The The SLK 250 comes with the automatic as standard, consumes 6.2 liters (CO2: 144 g /km), sprints to 100 km /h in 6.6 seconds and reaches a maximum of 243 km /h. The preliminary top engine is a 3.5-liter V6 with 306 hp. Also combined with the automatic, it accelerates the Mercedes SLK 350 in 5.6 seconds, consumes 7.1 liters on average (CO2: 167 g /km) and reaches a regulated 250 km /h

SLK base price is 38,675 euros

On the chassis side, the customer can choose between a standard, a sport and an electronically controlled, adaptive chassis. If you order the latter in the driving dynamics package, you will also receive direct steering.

On the other hand, the drowsiness assistant is always on board. Those who ask for more support will also be served extensively for a surcharge. Among other things, Pre-Safe, the Pre-Safe brake, a cruise control, a parking assistant, the intelligent light system and a speed limit assistant are available.

Fancy? Then prepare for January 17th, because the new Mercedes SLK can be ordered from then on. The basic model SLK 200 starts at 38,675 euros, the SLK 250 costs from 44,256 euros and the SLK 350 is available from 52,300 euros.

You still have some budget? To mark the launch of the new Mercedes SLK, Mercedes is offering the 'Edition 1' special model with the special paint finish designo glacier gray magno. The 'Edition 1' is lavishly equipped and includes as standard, among other things, a panoramic vario-roof, driving dynamics package, AMG bodystyling, two-tone designo nappa leather with contrasting stitching, airscarf, ambient lighting and more. The surcharge for this is between 8,490 and 8,990 euros, depending on the basic model.
