Record year for Mercedes

' Yes, 2014 will be a record year, 'said Ola Källenius, Chief Sales Officer Conversation a uto motor und sport . 'We currently have a sales increase of over 12 percent. The products are extremely well received by our customers.' At the end of October, Mercedes had sold 1.3 million vehicles worldwide.

Källenius did not want to give a specific sales figure by the end of the year, but he confirmed that the 1.5 million mark will be exceeded. 'I think everyone can work it out for themselves if you look at our strong growth.'

Källenius is not only satisfied with the very good sales in the USA and China, but also with sales in Western and Southern Europe. 'The turning point has been reached, we are growing fairly dynamically and at double-digit rates. Our new compacts and the C-Class are particularly well received.'

S-Class sales of 100,000 vehicles in the first year

According to Källenius, China will become the most important sales market for Mercedes in six years at the latest, ahead of the USA. 'Definitely by 2020,' said the head of sales. Källenius is also particularly satisfied with the sales of the new S-Class. 'Never before had customers received 100,000 luxury sedans in the first year of full availability. This is a milestone for us.'
