Mercedes AMG GT also as AMG GT S with 510 PS

The 4.0 liter -V8-Biturbo is not only available as M ercedes AMG GT with 462 hp, but also as an AMG GT S with an output of 510 hp. Both are introduced at the same time. However, there is no official price yet, just a rough brand: The athlete should cost from around 130,000 euros. It can be ordered from October 6th, 2014.

The Mercedes GT S is equipped with a performance exhaust system as standard, with which the driver can vary the engine sound. The feature, which is switched via a button in the drive unit, is also available for the GT at an additional cost. The same applies to the electronic rear axle locking differential and the AMG Ride Control sports suspension.

Ceramic brakes for an extra charge

With the latter, the driver can set the damper characteristics at the push of a button in the drive unit or via the AMG Dynamic Select drive programs. The levels “Comfort”, “S-Sport” and “Sport Plus” are available. The rear axle locking differential is networked with the 3-stage ESP, which offers the functions 'ESP on', 'ESP Sport Handling Mode' and 'ESP off'.

To be able to brake the Mercedes GT AMG adequately , a composite brake system with internally ventilated 360 mm brake discs is installed. The Mercedes AMG GT S receives 390 brake discs on the forehand and red brake calipers. A ceramic brake with 402 mm brake discs is available for a few extra euros.

Exclusively for the Mercedes AMG GT S, the “AMG Dynamic Plus package” is available as an option. It includes dynamic engine and transmission mounts, which are designed to be more rigid as required using special control electronics called the “AMG Chassis Controller” (ACC). The package also offers the “Race” driving program. The chassis is then designed to be tighter and the negative camber on the front axle is higher. Yellow accents in the cockpit complete the package.

LED indicators with running light

Otherwise theMercedes AMG GT are happy about the typical sports car attributes: long contoured bonnet, crisp rear, round shapes and short overhangs. The typical Mercedes grill is emblazoned in the front, as is already known from the A-Class and Co. LED headlights flank the grill and protrude into the fenders. The model crouches flat and correspondingly wide over the asphalt. In the side view, the dome-shaped roof line and the air openings behind the fenders with the 'V8 Biturbo' lettering are noticeable. The exterior mirrors with indicator slots and carbon housings are on the door sill, while the rear fenders are strongly flared.

With its narrow lights, the rear looks round and sensual. The LED running light indicators are also an eye-catcher. A black diffuser and the exhaust tailpipes integrated into the apron form the end. Depending on the driving program, the integrated rear spoiler extends at different speeds.

Mercedes AMG GT S with 360 km /h speedometer

The interior of the Mercedes AMG GT is a consistent continuation of the current Mercedes designs. The typical round air nozzles and the free-standing screen on the dashboard are already familiar from numerous other models.

The driver starts at the push of a button and grips a three-spoke sports steering wheel with a leather /Alcantara finish and 12 o'clock marking. He sorts the gears using aluminum shift paddles behind the valance. Classic round instruments in partly open tubes provide information on engine speed and speed (scale up to 320 km /h) - a small curved cockpit roof arches above them.

Overall, the dashboard is in the form of a wing that tapers towards the passengers. Decorative seams form the end of the upper element. The lower part of the dashboard is in a contrasting red color and also separates the upper and lower parts of the dashboard.

The two passengers, who sit on the one-piece and strongly contoured leather sports seats, are separated by a powerful center console that is rising to the 7 inch central screen. An 8.4 inch display is installed in conjunction with the Comand online package. The controls of the AMG Drive Unit are arranged in the style of a V8. The automatic selector lever and the Comand controller with touchpad are located in between. A narrow bar accommodates the switches for the air conditioning control, while the controls for the seat heating, the hazard warning lights and the parking aid are located above the rear-view mirror in the roof.

The Mercedes AMG GT S is still inside slightly higher quality equipment. Among other things, it comes with a speedometer scale of up to 360 km /h and red accents in the instrument cluster. The AMG crest is embossed in the center console. There are also upholstery designs that differ from the GTOperate Mercedes AMG GT in the S-Class. This includes as standard:

  • Adaptive high beam assistant
  • Pre-Safe
  • Parktronic
  • Rear view camera
  • Lane keeping and blind spot assistant
  • Traffic sign recognition.

In addition, seat belts with belt tensioners and belt force limiters, front airbags, thorax-pelvis sidebags, Windowbags and knee airbags for the driver and front passenger on board.
