D he Canadian sports car manufacturer Magnum is now enriching its range of so-called track -Day-Cars around the new Magnum MK5. The 3.91 meter long, 1.88 meter wide and only one meter high MK5 competes with a dry weight of only 545 kilograms.

A mid-engine transversely installed four-cylinder engine ensures the open two-seater's driving dynamics are suitable for the race track. which is allowed to turn up to 11,000 rpm and is estimated at 250 hp. The drive torque flows exclusively to the rear wheels via a sequential six-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The Magnum MK5 should manage the sprint from zero to 100 km /h in 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km /h. Also interesting for piste freaks: the MK5 should enable a maximum lateral acceleration of 2g.

The 18-inch rims with 225/40 tires at the front and 265/35 tires at the rear as well as the fully adjustable chassis and adjustable stabilizers. It is decelerated with radially screwed four-piston pliers all around. The brake balance can be adjusted from the cockpit. The ergonomic adaptation to the driver takes place through adjustable pedals. The passengers are tightened in the carbon seat shells using six-point belts. Information is provided by a multifunction display, the steering wheel can be removed, as is typical of a racing car.

The Magnum MK5 is completely clad with body panels made of carbon fiber laminate, which can be easily replaced individually in the event of a crash. A small trunk that can hold two helmets and a wallet, a reversing camera and a complete lighting system should ensure everyday suitability. You won't find a roof.

The Magnum MK5 is now available for prices starting at US $ 139,000 plus taxes. Only 20 copies are to be produced annually. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2014.
