N iedersachsen is considering selling VW shares. In any case, the country wants to hold at least 20 percent of the car manufacturer. That said the Lower Saxony Prime Minister David McAllister (CDU) on Monday in Hanover.

Finance Minister Hartmut Möllring (CDU) said that the sale of VW shares could be discussed, should it result from the 'integration' of Porsche and VW increase the country's 20 percent share. There is no decision on this. Möllring did not say how many shares it could be. 'That's all speculation.'

At VW, a blocking minority of 20 percent applies to important decisions in the general meeting. Lower Saxony currently holds just over 20 percent and thus has a de facto veto right. According to the government, the country currently holds 59 million shares in VW. One percent is currently worth around 215 million euros.
