W The Swabian state capital complies with the previous EU guidelines on fine dust pollution cannot meet the measures taken, the state government is now taking more drastic steps. The environmental zone is to be closed to cars with a red sticker as early as July 1st, 2010. The Swabians are bringing the driving ban forward by 1.5 years.

Lockout of cars with a red sticker from January 1st, 2010

Already from 1.1. In 2010 the environmental zones in Bremen, Frankfurt, Cologne and Münster also lock out cars with a red sticker, the environmental zone in Augsburg follows suit on October 1st, 2010. Things are even more intense in Berlin and Hamburg, where from 1.1.2010 only cars with a green sticker are allowed to enter the environmental zones.

Red badges are mostly found on Euro 2 diesel models built between 1995 and 2003, including various models that have already been retrofitted with a particle filter. The vehicle documents give precise information about the badge allocation. In the old vehicle registration document, the last two digits in the 'zu: 1' field are decisive. The key number can be found in field 14.1 of the registration certificate Part II. The last two digits also apply here. On cars, the numbers 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 35, 41 and 71 mean red stickers. For commercial vehicles, the numbers 20, 21, 22, 33, 43, 53, 60 and 61 stand for red.

auto-motor-und-sport.de has the corresponding reds for you. Sinners compiled.

Violation threatens a fine and points in Flensburg

Anyone who is caught in the environmental zone without or with the wrong sticker must expect a fine of 40 euros and one point in Flensburg. For 2008, the KBA lists 6,259 trapped environmental zone offenders in its annual report. Berlin accounts for the majority with 5,608 sinners, in Stuttgart 498 badge sinners were caught.

In many cases, a badge upgrade to yellow or even green enables a particle filter to be retrofitted, which will be funded by the federal government with a grant of 330 euros until the end of 2009. The 66 million euros earmarked for this in the federal budget are only sufficient for 200,000 filter retrofits. So if you retrofit too late, you get nothing.
