Lotus Elise Sprint 220: data, information, prices, market launch

L otus has completely redesigned the Elise. In addition to a modified styling, the new two-seater primarily focuses on less weight. Compared to the previous model, the Sprint Edition of the Lotus Elise weighs 41 kg less and, with a dry weight of 798 kg, remains below the magical 800 kg limit.

The lightweight components of the Elise Sprint include including a lithium-ion battery that saves 9 kg, 6 kg lighter carbon sports seats and new 5 kg lighter wheels made of forged aluminum. The front cover, the roll bar cover and the bonnet are made of carbon and the rear window is made of polycarbonate, which reduces the weight by a further 6 kg. The redesigned front apron saves 8.7 kg. The redesigned cross member at the rear has two instead of four rear lights and includes the reversing and rear fog lights. This saves a further 0.3 kg and the rear design appears more impressive and wider. From May From May of this year, 4 kg lighter, two-part brake discs and door sills made of carbon (0.8 kg) are optionally available.

Another two engine variants on offer

The interior was also completely redesigned, whereby the lightweight, open switch mechanism is a particular eye-catcher. The center console was taken over from the Exige. The instruments have been given new graphics, and the entertainment offering has also been refreshed.

The Elise is available with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated or 1.8-liter supercharged engine as the Elise Sprint and Elise Sprint 220. The naturally aspirated engine has 136 hp and 160 Nm, the supercharged engine has 220 hp and 250 Nm. The Sprint version should be able to spurt to 100 km /h in 6.3 seconds, the Sprint 220 version only needs 4.5 seconds.

The new Elise Sprint models can be ordered immediately and delivered they from April 2017. The base price for the Lotus Elise Sprint is 47,300 euros, the Elise Sprint 220 costs at least 56,300 euros.
