D as the organizing committee of the Olympic Games and the Paralympics 2012 in London has issued a strict CO2 limit averaging 120 g /km for the vehicle fleet used. Now, as the official partner, BMW is handing over the first 40 vehicles of the approximately 4,000 vehicles in the Olympic fleet. In order to meet the CO2 requirements, BMW is launching Efficient Dynamic models, hybrid versions, electric cars, motorcycles and bicycles in London.

The main load is carried by the BMW 320d

The organizers have 160 BMW ActiveE electric models available to transport the athletes within the Olympic village and as support vehicles for the Olympic flame. These are supplemented by 40 Mini E. 200 Mini Countryman Cooper D are to perform taxi services during the games. BMW puts the fleet of 320d Efficient Dynamics models available to officials at 1,550 vehicles. Another 700 vehicles of the 520d Efficient Dynamics and 20 5 Series Active Hybrid vehicles are to cover shuttle services. 17 BMW X3 20d are used as towing vehicles for the boat competitions. The riders can fall back on 10 BMW X5 30d. BMW is providing 25 motorcycles of the types F650 GS, R1200 GS and R1200 RT as support vehicles for the cycling competitions. The entourage is rounded off by 400 street cruiser bicycles for various purposes.
