VW catching up strongly
The Volkswagen Group also reports a new record for the past year. The Wolfsburg-based company delivered over 10 million vehicles for the first time. A total of 10.14 million vehicles were handed over to customers worldwide between January and December 2014. In the previous year it was still 9.73 million vehicles. The increase is 4.2 percent. VW contributed 6.12 million vehicles, Audi 1.74 million vehicles, Porsche 189,800 vehicles, Skoda 1.04 million units, Seat 390,500 vehicles and the Group's three commercial vehicle brands, MAN, Scania and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, 646,500 units to the consolidated result.
In 2014, the US automaker GM only came third. The Americans also report a new record for the past year - plus 2% compared to the previous year - but are 'only' 9,924,880 units delivered.
