Lamborghini has to recall 4,796 sports cars because they were stubborn. It is only about a component in the cent range.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the car manufacturer Lamborghini are recalling 4,796 vehicles in the USA. To be more precise, these are Huracan vehicles from the production period July 30, 2014 to May 14, 2020.
The vehicles in question do not fully comply with Section 49 CFR 571.108, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment. Horizontal target adjustment of the headlights is possible because there is no cap over the horizontal adjustment screw of the lamp. Customers can reach the horizontal adjustment screw and do the horizontal adjustment by themselves. Lamborghini normally makes this adjustment at the factory and provides the screw with a blind cap to prevent further adjustments.

Lamborghini became aware of the potential situation when the internal audit of the R&D department identified missing blind caps on internal vehicles. Another cross-departmental parts analysis revealed that the vehicle manufacturer did not assemble the blind caps in production. On February 26, 2020, the matter was submitted to the Product Safety Committee of Automobili Lamborghini SpA. The Allegation: The absence of a blind cap over the carrier's horizontal adjustment screw equates to non-compliance with 49 CFR 571.108, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Related Equipment, Item S10.18.9.2.
On March 4, 2020, Automobili Lamborghini filed a report informing the NHTSA that it was taking no action on this. Then, on March 25, 2020, Automobili Lamborghini filed the related minor non-compliance claim. Now, NHTSA's response: On February 10, 2022, Automobili Lamborghini received NHTSA's decision regarding the denied petition.
