K ia is showing two new models for China in Shanghai: the Pegas is a compact notchback sedan, the K2 a crossover. The Korean brand only builds and sells the Pegas in China, but the dimensions and appearance are very reminiscent of the Rio. There are particularly similarities to the notchback variant sold in the USA.

Large trunk with a volume of 475 liters

In China, however, different car values count than in the USA and so the trunk is significantly larger at 475 liters. The wheelbase of 2.57 meters, however, is almost identical. A glass roof brings air into the cockpit, a center armrest comfort, explains Kia in a press release on the premiere. The Pegas is powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder that sends 95 hp and 133 Nm to a five-speed manual transmission. Optionally, a four-speed automatic does the switching work. The Pegas will go on sale in the second half of 2017.

The Pegas will be available in China from mid-2017.

With the new K2 Cross it is a five-door compact, which gets the pithy name tag by raising it by 45 millimeters. There is also a robust look that adds three centimeters in width and four centimeters in length to the body. It is now 4.24 meters long and 1.75 meters wide - classic compact car dimensions.

K2 Cross from mid-2017 in China

Two engines are available. The 1.4 liter develops 100 hp and offers 132 Nm of torque. The 1.6 liter offers 123 hp and 151 Nm a shovel more power and torque. As an alternative to the standard six-speed manual transmission, there is an automatic. The K2 Cross will also hit the Chinese market in the second half of 2017.
