Kia Trail’ster at the Chicago Auto Show: Hybrid soul for adventurers

F for the outdoor look of the Kia Soul provide a fabric sliding roof, a higher chassis and an all-round paneling of the body with black plastic. There are also multi-colored 19-inch alloy wheels with 45/45 tires and redesigned aprons at the front and rear with indicated underrun protection elements. New LED lights at the front and rear add further highlights. The integrated roof railing should accommodate bulky outdoor equipment.

Kia has lined the interior with materials from the winter sports sector. The Kia designers also combined leather seats and colored accents on the dashboard.

Electric motor on the rear axle

On On the drive side, the Kia Trail'ster uses a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine with 185 hp under the front hood, which is upgraded to an all-wheel drive train by a 27 kW electric motor on the rear axle. The energy for the electric motor is supplied by a lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 1.2 kWh, which is located in the trunk floor. The system performance indicates Kia with 220 PS. In purely electric mode, the Kia should travel up to around 6 kilometers.

Already three years ago, Kia showed the 250 hp study in Chicago Track'ster , the one two-door Kia Soul with an athlete's soul.
