The new Kia Sportage is based on the platform of the sister model Hyundai iX35. As before, the Kia Sorento is also coming its little brother with the new K ia -styling therefore.

New Kia styling for the Sportage

The front of the Kia Sportage receives the chrome-rimmed and newly designed radiator grille with 'jagged' fog lights, which are flanked by slit-shaped headlights. The bonnet is contoured and the roofline largely corresponds to that of the Kia Sorento.

The rear of the new Kia Sportage has also been redesigned and now has a modern look. The rear lights extend horizontally far into the tailgate, the rear window is narrower. Overall, the rear section looks much more pleasing without the huge number plate field. The new Kia Sportage is significantly flatter compared to its predecessor, but also longer and wider. The wheelbase of the Kia SUV is said to have been extended to create more space for passengers and luggage. The Kia Sportage will be launched in Germany in the second half of the year.

New Kia Sportage benefits from engine sharing with Hyundai

There is currently no information on the Sportage technology, which will follow at the world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. The Kia Sportage will probably get the 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 163 hp known from the Hyundai iX35 and the two-liter diesel with 136 or 184 hp. A manual six-speed gearbox is available for the compression-ignition engine, while the gasoline-powered drivers are allowed to drive five gears through the shift gates.
