P remiere with a difference: Instead of in the flashlight of an international trade fair Fiat-Chrysler decided on an unusual location to present the latest Jeep. On the occasion of the start of production of the new Jeep Compass in Brazil, the veil was lifted after numerous spy photos had been taken during advertising and distributed in the wind in the wind.
Technology from the Renegade
The new one Jeep Compass is supposed to close the gap between the compact Renegade and the expensive Cherokee and to confront the successful European compact SUV. With a completely new design and a completely new technology platform compared to the predecessor twins Compass and Patriot, it is to replace its predecessor, which was only moderately strong in Europe.
In terms of size, the new Jeep Compass (2018) will be 4,416 millimeters Sort outside length between Renegade and Cherokee and thus attack the favorite SUV of the Germans, the VW Tiguan. In addition, as with the Renegade, Jeep is planning various variants, including a Trailhawk version optimized for off-road use (see picture gallery).
The technology and drive of the new Jeep Compass (2018) is provided by the smaller Jeep Renegade. Jeep itself speaks of 17 engine and drive train variants. The 1.4-liter Multiair petrol engine with 170 hp and the two-liter Multijet diesel in the 140 and 170 hp variants are definitely set. The base will probably mark the 1.6-liter diesel with 120 hp and front-wheel drive. With the two-liter diesel and 170 hp, the new Jeep Compass should be up to 194 km /h and accelerate to 100 km /h in ten seconds, according to the provisional values for the all-wheel drive version with automatic transmission. The weight of the Jeep Compass (2018) will be around 100 kilos more than the comparable Renegade variant.
Jeep Compass (2018)
The design of the new Jeep Compass (2018) is very clearly based on the successful Jeep Grand Cherokee. A narrow radiator grille with the characteristic seven slots, plus pinched main headlights with LED light strips. The rear design is a mixture between Cherokee and Grand Cherokee.
What is particularly interesting is the side view, where there are many similarities with the Jeep Renegade. For example the shape of the wheel arches, but also the side line of the which rises towards the C-pillarDoor and the small side window in front of the D-pillar. But while the renegade ends abruptly behind the axle, the new Jeep Compass has been given a long, rounded combination rear end. However, not only the overhang, but also the wheelbase is longer than the Renegade. At 2,636 millimeters, it is around seven centimeters longer, which the rear passengers in particular will notice.
Elegant design
Elegance instead of shirt sleeves is also the motto for the interior very different from that of the Renegade despite the common parts (switch, steering wheel). On the transmission side, in addition to the six-speed manual gearbox, the nine-speed automatic is available. A large color display between the analogue instruments serves as a display for the on-board computer, the large screen of the U-Connect system is integrated in the dashboard.
The new Jeep Compass will be launched in North America in the first half of 2017 go, in Europe the market launch is planned for July 2017. The prices then start at 24,900 euros for the 140-hp petrol engine with front-wheel drive. The 170-hp all-wheel drive version of the 1.4-liter costs from 35,000 euros. The 120-hp diesel with front-wheel drive is available from 26,100 euros, the two-liter diesel with 140 hp in combination with all-wheel drive costs at least 31,200 euros, the 170-hp variant is not available for less than 37,200 euros.
