B when he was eight years old, the Finn sat behind the wheel of a car for the first time. Jari-Matti Latvala contested his first rally at the tender age of 16. In addition to several British rallies, Jari-Matti Latvala competed in the Italian Subaru Cup, which he also won. In 2003, shortly after his 18th birthday, he drove a World Rally Car for Ford for the first time in the Acropolis Rally, which he finished in tenth.
By 2006 he gained further experience in the WRC, P-WRC and J-WRC and fourth in the 2006 Rally Wales. In 2007 Ford gave him 16 world championship races in the Stobart team, in 2008 Jari-Matti Latvala joined the works team alongside Mikko Hirvonen and won the Rally Sweden at the age of 22 as the youngest driver. Jari-Matti Latvala has often received criticism in the past for numerous crashes. In 2010 he won the Rally Finland as the youngest driver of all time.
