S the auto show came into focus even before the opening of the IAA: because they have 22 car brands her coming canceled quite early. However, that should not detract from the fair, after all, the most important car brands were represented with their innovations in Frankfurt. The highlights certainly included the premiere of the VW ID.3 - the first fully electric volume model on the new modular electrical system. Also electric, also a VW group: Porsche presented the 600 hp Taycan sports car with a range of 500 kilometers in series trim.

The IAA alternates in odd years (2019, 2021, 2023, etc.) with the IAA for commercial vehicles in Hanover. The IAA took place for the first time in 1897 in the Berlin Hotel Bristol with eight motor vehicles. Only in 1951 did it move into the exhibition halls in Frankfurt and at that time attracted 570,000 visitors. In 2007 the VDA then booked the record of almost one million visitors. In the crisis year of 2009, the number of visitors to the IAA (around 850,000 guests) declined again, and the exhibition area also shrank from 229,000 to 185,000 square meters.
