Hyundai wants 3.5 percent market share in Europe

Hyundai has already increased its sales figures in the EU by over 75 percent in the last ten years, even with problems in the overall market 382,255 vehicles increased last year. Compared to 2010, Hyundai improved by 10.4 percent in 2011. The market share in Europe climbed from 2.6 to 2.9 percent in 2010.

Rushforth confirmed in an interview that he wants to increase the market share of the Korean manufacturer to 3.5 percent in a short period of time. That would correspond to a sales volume of around 500,000 vehicles. 'We are doing our best to achieve the targets this year,' says Rushforth. “In general, only the availability of the vehicles could thwart our plans,” Rushforth admits. 'With the ix 35, however, we can significantly reduce the order backlog in the first quarter with an additional shift at the Nosovice plant.'
