N after Honda unveiled the facelift version of the CR-V in September, the revised compact SUV is now being launched in Germany. For the 2010 model year, the SUV is getting a slight visual upgrade and a new diesel engine.
Cleaner, more powerful diesel in the Honda CR-V
The current i-CDTi is replaced by the new i-DTEC diesel engine from. The displacement of the new diesel engine already available in the Honda Accord drops below the 2.2-liter mark (2,199 instead of 2,204 cubic centimeters). The power increases from 140 to 150 hp, the torque increases from 340 to 350 Newton meters. In addition, the diesel engine can now for the first time be combined with a five-speed automatic transmission developed by Honda; until now the diesel version was only available with a manual switch. The diesel reaches the Euro 5 emissions standard and should get by with 6.5 liters in the EU mix. With the 2.4-liter gasoline engine, the average consumption is 8.2 liters /100 km, also with an output of 150 hp.
Externally, the changes are minimal. The slightly modified front apron with modified radiator grille, the new design of the 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels and the revised rear bumper will only be recognized by those familiar with the model. The interior is upgraded with new plastics, but remains optically unchanged. In addition, Honda promises to have reduced the interior noise through additional insulation.
The standard equipment includes air conditioning, light alloy wheels and radio /CD, optional features include xenon light, a large panoramic glass roof, a DVD navigation system with color display and the safety assistance system CMBS (Collision Mitigation Brake System) available. CMBS offers an automatic preventive braking system for accident avoidance, cornering lights and a radar-controlled distance cruise control.
The new model is manufactured at the British plant in Swindon and can be ordered from January 16. The prices for the 2.4-liter gasoline engine start at 26,950 euros, for the new 150 hp diesel at least 30,500 euros are due. Both engine variants are also available with the five-speed automatic for an additional charge of 1,750 euros.
