Subscriptions & booklets

D The British plant in Swindon, where the Civic is produced for Europe, is to be closed in 2021, at the end of the production cycle of the current Civic model. According to Japanese media reports, parts of the Civic production are to be relocated to Japan. Honda wants to move these production facilities to the Yorii plant in Saitama Prefecture. Around 150,000 vehicles are currently manufactured at the Swindon site each year. The site employs around 3,500 people. Honda's European headquarters are to remain in Great Britain. The plant closure should not be due to Brext.

Turkey also affected

The global restructuring of the production network is also having an impact on Honda's automobile production facilities in Turkey. Honda currently produces around 38,000 Honda Civic sedans per year there. This production should also end in 2021. Honda wants to continue producing at the location. Corresponding discussions have already started.
