Z big GTI meetings on Lake Wörthersee have been around for years Volkswagen apprentices prove it. In 2018 there will again be a very special VW Golf GTI on display in Maria Wörth, which the junior staff at VW built on their own. The team includes seven women and eight men aged 19 to 23 from eight professions.

Special paintwork and optional equipment

The Golf GTI Next Level is powered by a two-liter petrol engine with one output of 411 hp, 500 Nm and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The unique GTI is painted in the standard colors White Silver Metallic and Deep Black Pearl Effect (in the rear area). Contrasting foils with jagged arrows are attached to it. The foils, like the body kit with rear diffuser and the inner bands of the 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with 235/30 tires, were painted by hand.

The next level was created with the help of digital technologies. The trainees designed the exterior and interior on graphic computers - for example for the complex sound and multimedia rear extension of the two-seater. They designed the side panels as well as the mountings for loudspeakers and subwoofers on CAD computers and produced them using 3D printing technology. In addition, the trainees programmed special apps in order to be able to control the electrically hinged loading floor, the extendable LED monitor and the LED underbody lighting via tablet PC or smartphone.

VW Golf Variant TGI G-Motion from Zwickau

VW
The trainees from Zwickau built the Golf Variant G-Motion.

14 young talents from Volkswagen Sachsen are responsible for the second Wörthersee Golf. This is the Golf Variant TGI G-Motion with a 131HP strong 1.5 l TGI natural gas engine with 7-speed dual clutch transmission and integrated all-wheel drive. The trainees from the Zwickau vehicle plant, the Chemnitz engine plant and the Transparent Factory in Dresden have worked with their sponsors to create a Wörthersee show car that combines sportiness, elegance and off-road mobility.

The show car is painted in matt and gloss colors: The Bentley colors Ice, Hallmark and St. James Red harmonize with the standard Golf color Deep Black, pearl effect. In the interior of the vehicle, all decors are provided with a chrome finish. The sports seats have red stitching, sewn-in honeycombs and an embroidered G-Motion logo. The trainees installed a coilover kit that can be lowered by up to 40 millimeters, as well as a four-piston brake system at the front. There are also 20-inch alloy wheels with 235/35 tires. They also adapted the underbody and the exhaust system to the all-wheel drive.
