B especially Mercedes is in this show -Year strongly represented at the Geneva Motor Show. As one of the highlights, the Stuttgart-based company is showing the new A-Class with its spectacular design and no less spectacular interior concept. In addition, Daimler is presenting the facelift version of the C-Class, which will be on display at Lac Léman as a sedan and station wagon version T-model. Mercedes only exhibited coupé, convertible and AMG versions later. Apropos AMG: Exactly a year ago, the AMG GT Concept, the AMG interpretation of the CLS, was on display in Geneva. Well, a year later, visitors can look forward to the production version of the model with more than 600 hp.

Not in Geneva: Opel has canceled

A manufacturer does not travel to the motor show: ' We can confirm that Opel will not take part in the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, ”said a spokesman when asked, and further stated that the brand would“ focus more on its own product launch events ”. In other words: If there is nothing new to show, the trade fair presence is canceled.

In fact, Opel already showed its big innovations in 2017: Insignia , Crossland X and Grandland X were at the IAA. A strategy that other manufacturers are already using: The new Opel parent company PSA was on the IAA 2017 only with Citroën represented, Peugeot and DS did not have a stand. Volvo has reduced the trade fair presence to one show per continent - in Europe this is Geneva.

Volvo brings the V60, Lambo the Urus

Another German carmaker is also shining with several premieres: Audi is not only showing the hot Q2 version called SQ2, but also the Audi A6, which is much more hotly anticipated. This appears as a mix of Audi A7 Sportback and Audi A8 and should then also roll to customers in the middle of the year.

Also in the middle of the year, the Volvo V60 will be in the showrooms. After Volvo is not represented at either the IAA or the Paris Motor Show, the V60 in Geneva is the only world premiere for the Swedes in Europe the technology of the already unveiled XC60.

The Lamborghini Urus is in a completely different category. In Geneva, visitors can take a look at the world's fastest SUV for the first time. Fired by a V8 petrol engine with a displacement of four liters, the Urus ignites a fireworks display of 650 hp and provides 850 Nm. The sports SUV should run to 100 km /h in just 3.6 seconds and only recognize its physical limits at 305 km /h. The financial limits for the Urus start at 204,000 euros.

The Bentley Bentayga, which will be on display in Geneva as a plug-in hybrid, will also be of a similar stature.

Showcases by the designers and bodywork cutters

In addition to the innovations from the manufacturers, the Geneva Motor Show will again be a show stage for the bodywork cutters and design studios in 2018. Rinspeed is a permanent guest in Geneva, but Sbarro, Fornasari and Co. will again inspire the audience with their view of the future of the automobile. The 87th Geneva Motor Show takes place from 8.3. will take place until March 18, 2017.
