D aimler Trucks has its new flagship for the in Colorado Springs, Colorado heavy trucks presented: the new Freightliner Cascadia. Like its predecessor, the new Cascadia, which will be available from January 2017, is set to become the market leader. Freightliner pulled out numerous registers for this.

Cascadia for super aerodynamics
With an aerodynamically optimized shape and a revised drive train, fuel consumption is said to have been reduced by 8%. An additional aero package is offered for an extra charge, which offers even more savings potential. Despite the extensive paneling, the components should be easily replaceable in the event of damage and thus help save costs.
Unlike other manufacturers, Freightliner relies on an integrated drive train, which means: we do everything ourselves, from the engine to the Axis. Two six-cylinder in-line engines with 12.8 and 14.8 liters displacement are new to the range. Both produce 400 hp and provide a maximum torque of 2,373 Nm. Both are combined with an automated manual transmission with 10 or 13 gears. Additional engines expand the range from 350 to 800 hp. In addition, manual transmissions with 10, 13 and 18 gears and a fully automatic transmission are available for the Cascadia. The Cascadia is offered with two or three axles as 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4.

Fully networked truck
Connectivity is also a big topic for trucks and is one of them in the new Cascadia very special. A new technology platform reports malfunction signals directly to a virtual technician so that problems can be identified and resolved at an early stage. Functions for fleet management are also deeply integrated, transmitting automated analyzes of fuel efficiency, driving behavior, development over time, causes of errors and key data on fuel consumption. Of course, the on-board electronics can also be refueled 'on air' with fresh software.
In addition, the new Cascadia offers a whole package of security technologies. The new full LED system is intended to significantly enlarge the field of vision at night and in bad weather conditions. An optionally available safety package includes Active Brake Assist, which initiates emergency braking on stationary objects, as well as adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning. Fully LED headlights and heated exterior mirrors are standard.

Freightliner Cascadia with luxury cabin on request
There was a lot of efficiency and safety but don't forget the driver either. On request, he resides in a luxury lounge with standing height. There are a total of seven cabin variants to choose from. If the large cabin is chosen for long-distance use, an office and kitchen can be set up there in addition to a bed. Two benches and a table element are arranged accordingly. Microwave and refrigerator ensure the physical well-being, a flat screen TVensures relaxation.
