F ords recall due to faulty gear shifts is already running. Now another 270,000 cars (USA: 259,182, Canada: 10,282, Mexico: 3,765) had to be included in the recall. This is the Fusion built from 2013 to 2016 with a 2.5-liter engine. Until the time of repairs, Ford requests the owners of said vehicles to always use the parking brake when parking.
According to the manufacturer, the socket that connects the shift cable to the transmission can wear out. In the worst case, the shift cable could come loose. After that, the 'P' position can be selected, but the gearbox could actually be in any other stage. If, for example, idling is imperceptibly engaged, the Fusion could simply roll off on a sloping track. This has already happened several times - as a result, there was one person injured, three times there was damage to property. Ford's engineers are currently working on a solution to the problem.

2019 Ford Ranger also affected
The fastening elements are different, but Even with the Ranger, the gear shift cable holder can come loose and the 'P' position can mean anything. The driver can still remove the ignition key without a warning being issued. Unintentional rolling is also possible here - accidents and injuries are not yet known to Ford in this context.
Of this recall, 2,500 vehicles are in the USA and260 affected in Canada. Here, too, Ford advises that the parking brake should always be applied when parking until repairs are carried out. In the workshop, the mechanics check the fastenings and the correct function of the gearshift assembly - if in doubt, they retighten the fasteners. This recall is running at Ford under the reference number 19S15.
Problems as early as 2018
As soon as the type of repair has been determined and the corresponding spare parts have been produced, the vehicle owners will receive a notification requesting go to a workshop. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S16.
As early as 2018, Ford had to recall 550,000 vehicles with the same problem to the workshops - but there was another cause at the time. The Fusion built from 2013 to 2016 and the Escape built from 2013 to 2014 were also affected. The cars recalled in 2018 are not affected by the new recall.
