Ford has recently been purchasing the accelerator pedals for the car from the same US supplier who also supplies the problematic parts to Toyota (' All current information about the Toyota-accelerator-recall can be found here'). Ford says it is not currently aware of any breakdowns or even accidents.
At Toyota, the accelerator pedals, which in the worst case can get stuck in the depressed position, caused one of the largest product recalls in the company's history. 2.3 million cars in the USA have to go to the workshops, sales of the affected models have been stopped and production has stopped. There are also signs of a recall in Europe.
