The advantage of an electric car for many is that it is almost silent driving. This does not always succeed with the VW e-Crafter converted into an ambulance. When his siren is activated, there is a good reason to help people.
The German Red Cross now has an electric Crafter in action on the East Frisian North Sea island of Borkum. Its range is 150 kilometers - enough for the 31 square kilometer island.
Crafter as a mobile control center
Volkswagen has commercial vehicles for the Interschutz trade fair in Hanover also prepared new emergency vehicles for fire and rescue services. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this trade fair will not take place either. Authorities and institutions should nevertheless become aware of the new models such as the team transport vehicle based on the VW T6.1, ambulance vehicles and the Crafter as a command vehicle if they need to procure them. The command vehicle serves the fire brigade as a mobile control center on site, with swiveling seats it becomes an office and meeting room for helpers.
