A recall in the USA causes trouble for 5,601 Ferrari drivers.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Ferrari have launched a recall campaign in the USA. A total of 5,601 customers of the sports car brand will have to visit their workshops in the coming days. Affected are the Ferrari 458 from the production period September 26, 2009 to December 2, 2015 and the Ferrari 488 from the production period July 22, 2015 to August 28, 2019. The recall can be found with the NHTSA under number 21V-833 and with the manufacturer itself under number 78.
The reason for the recall is the possible loss of brake fluid. In the event of a total loss of brake fluid, the vehicle would lose its braking ability, which could result in serious accidents. The cause is still unknown. Ferrari and Bosch (supplier of the brake booster/pump) are investigating this issue. When the remaining memory level is 48 percent, the dashboard of the affected vehicles displays the message: "Brake fluid level low, drive slowly to the dealer." In addition to the visual message, an acoustic buzzer sounds. In Germany, no recall is currently known.
Conclusion
A recall of the Ferrari brand is currently causing trouble in the USA. 5,601 owners of the 458 and 488 models have to go to the workshops. The reason: loss of brake fluid.
