FAB Design-McLaren 650S VAYU Spider in Geneva: tamer of the wind

First Huayra and now Vayu. Both are names for the god of wind: Huayra in South America, Vayu in India. Based on this, the Swiss tuner FAB Design has its interpretation of the M cLaren 650S Spider named after the Vedic god Vayu - that fits: The tuning vehicle based on the McLaren models 12C or 650S has sills and spoilers and wings embossed; everything to tame the wind.

FAB Design-McLaren 650S with widebody and subtle extra power

The heart of the conversion is a wide body kit that gives the sinewy McLaren model a beefier look leaves. The body kit consists of a front apron, a front splitter, widened front and rear fenders, a modified rear apron with diffuser, and a double-pipe exhaust system. According to FAB Design, the downforce is to be increased with the help of the body modifications. On request, a rear wing in body color or carbon, modified air inlets and other bodywork elements made of carbon fiber can also be added.

For many, the moderate increase in performance should also be interesting, which brings the 650S to the same level as the special model 675LT . A new exhaust system and an optimized engine map elicit 32 additional horsepower from the 3.8 liter V8 biturbo engine. A total of 682 are freely available.

God of the wind on 20-inch wheels

FAB has new wheels Design also in the program. The tuner straps Dunlop tires onto the 20-inch forged wheels. FAB Design upgrades the interior with various carbon parts. Interesting side aspect: In the pictures, the FAB design conversion always looks like the current model, the 650S. Body tuning is also possible for the predecessor 12C, only the headlights from the 650S have to be taken over. The conversion costs 12,000 euros - not exactly cheap.

Carbon body kit costs more than a Mercedes A45 AMG

But that's not the tuning anyway: The body kit costs almost 40,000 euros in the basic version (painted). If the customer prefers carbon, it costs 55,000 euros. The customer has to pay 11,000 euros for the forged rims. If you combine the costs for tuning with the basic price of the McLaren 650S (255,000 euros), you can quickly get into divine spheres. But that's where Vayu wants to go too.
