D as Making the impossible possible. At the Essen Motor Show (November 27 to December 5, 2010) this motto is the program of almost every exhibitor. A Porsche Panamera as a racing car? Impossible, okay as a touring vehicle, but too heavy and unwieldy for racing. That's not true. Chassis manufacturer H&R attracts the audience to Europe's most famous tuning fair with the world's only racing Panamera from the N.Technology racing team. The V8 rear-wheel drive car with a full carbon body was successfully used in the Italian SuperStars racing series in 2010
Crass Panamera creations from the racing and tuning scene
Another Porsche Panamera interpretation is celebrating its premiere at the booth of Porsche refiner Techart. The so-called Grand GT is only vaguely reminiscent of the base vehicle from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen and will have its German premiere at the Essen Motor Show 2010. A special aerodynamics package allows the four-seater to grow in width by 21 millimeters on each side compared to the standard Porsche Panamera Turbo. The rear end is also much more muscular on the road. No wonder, the fenders on the rear axle are 42 millimeters wider.
In addition to tuning delicacies such as a modified sports exhaust system and a carbon fiber bonnet, a power injection should of course not be missing. The maximum output of the 4.8-liter V8 turbo engine increases from 500 to around 650 hp. The maximum torque also climbs significantly from 700 to 830 Newton meters. Formula 1 fans should stop by the Techart stand by November 27, 2010 at the latest: Techart brand ambassador and Formula 1 driver Adrian Sutil will be giving an autograph session from 2 p.m.
Performance values as in Formula 1, but in road vehicles
When it comes to Formula 1-like performance values in street-legal vehicles, Brabus must of course not be missing. The Bottrop-based Mercedes tuner is showing the Brabus SV12 R Biturbo 800 in Hall 11. Behind the cryptic abbreviation is the Mercedes S600 bred by Brabus, the currently most powerful series sedan in the world. 800 PS should accelerate the luxury limo to 100 km /h in 3.9 seconds. After 10.3 seconds, the V12 steam hammer should ideally thunder over the 200 mark. Only at 350 km /h does the electronics stop the acceleration orgy.
Competitor Carlsson tries with theIn-house development C25 based on Mercedes SL to shine. The sports car, limited to 25 copies, hisses with a 752 hp twin-turbo V12. When it doesn't attract the attention of tuning fans, as it did at the Essen Motor Show 2010, the Carlsson C25 with its maximum torque of 1,150 Newton meters should be able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km /h in 3.7 seconds. Where? Hall 3, Stand 204.
Power is looking for Vau - dragsters and trucks with thousands of horsepower
The Habermann Racing team can only smile with around 800 horsepower. In the Galeria at the Essen Motor Show 2010, the dragster team from the top methanol racing class is presenting the winning vehicle of two-time European champion Timo Habermann and his teammate and brother Dennis Habermann. V8, 3500 hp and 10,000 rpm - any questions? That is enough for 424 km /h in 5.3 seconds.
Fans of race trucks get their money's worth a few meters away from the dragster team in the Essen Motor Show Galeria. Team Hahn Racing around driver Jochen Hahn shows its five-ton racing vehicle with 1,100 diesel horsepower from a six-cylinder with 12.4 liter displacement.
Showcase of production sports cars and concept studies
Mercedes is presenting a special showcase from different decades at its stand in Hall 3. Whether it's the current Mercedes SLS AMG, the CLK-GTR street version of 1998, the Wankel prototype C111 from 1969 or an SSK from 1928, Mercedes enthusiasts can experience great moments at the Essen Motor Show 2010 in quick succession.
Skoda is also presenting its sporty model range at the Essen trade fair . In addition to the already well-known sports vehicles, the VW subsidiary is showing two modified concept vehicles, the Skoda Fabia RS + and the Octavia RS +. However, Skoda and Mercedes are not the only series manufacturers to be shown in Essen. Abarth Punto Evo, Abarth 500C and Abarth 500 - if you prefer the top models from Fiat 500 and Punto, you will find it in Hall 3. The focus of the Essen Motor Show from Abarth's point of view is the presentation of the esseesse performance kit.
Racing legends and sport auto drift show
Alfa Romeo will be shown in two halls. In Hall 3, the Italians will present the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde and the Mito Quadrifoglio Verde. For racing enthusiasts, however, the special exhibition should be more interesting. Under the motto '100 years of Alfa Romeo - the racing legends', 13 racing cars by successful Alfisti from Tazio Nuvolari to Juan Manuel Fangio can be admired in Hall 1.
Last but not least, it will of course be in Hall 7 again Get down to business on the slopes too. This is where the sport auto drift team is traditionally based. For drift junkies there is the possibility of a breathtaking ride, pardon cross.
