A ls highlight is definitely the upcoming new VW Golf of the seventh Generation to call. After Volkswagen published the first technical data for the new edition of the compact bestseller, our Erlkönig hunter was also able to present the first shot at the interior of the VW Golf VII.

VW Golf VII also caught as GTI and R

Even if the new Golf will be on display for the first time at the beginning of September and will later be presented at the Paris Motor Show, the car future á la VW does not end there. Not only are the GTI version of the new Golf coming up, no, the R version, which will not be available until the end of 2013, is already in the Erlkönig trim. And if Generation 7 is not enough for you, you can also take a look at the Golf VI here, as it will come as an R version in convertible form.

That is not enough VW: The subsidiary brand is Audi too been on a test tour in August. Finally, the A3 debutant wants to test the other models. The four-door Audi A3 Sportback and the S3 version have fallen into the trap. After all, the latter comes up with around 280 hp and will come onto the market in 2013.

BMW tests the M3, Mercedes the S 63 AMG

But other German manufacturers also have beautiful cars that they will present in the future. BMW is testing the M version of the 3 Series, the power bolide is allowed to catch customers and competitors in 2013 with its 450 hp twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder. Another model with the white and blue propeller is the new generation of the BMW Z4. The optically slightly modified roadster will also be released from 2013, as will the BMW i3, which our photographer was able to take a first look at.

A little further north-west of BMW, competitor Mercedes went on a test drive in August. The star testers had the new generation of the C-Class with them at the Nürburgring, tested the AMG version of the new S-Class with 5.5-liter V8 and 558 hp and also tested the CLA in AMG trim as the CLA 45 with 320 PS power through its paces.

Opel Astra Cabrio without Astra

Another German manufacturer is Opel at the start. After the Adam and the Mocha, it's time to facelift existing models. The Insignia is getting a facelift, in which the OPC edition should not be missing. In addition, the Rüsselsheim-based company has the new Astra-based convertible inthe doing. The model, which will not officially bear the name Astra and is positioned above the compact class, has a folding roof and will be launched in 2013.

And what else was in the Erlkönig quiver in August? Peugeot 208 GTI for example, or the new Bentley Flying Spur, or the Jaguar XFR-S or the Hyundai i10 or, or or ....
