In an urgent procedure initiated by Deutsche Umwelthilfe, the court initially stopped the relaxation of the environmental zone in Hanover. The environmental zone in the form decided by the city of Hanover is thus still valid until the court has decided. However, in view of the chaos caused by Sander, the city is for the time being waiving sanctions for vehicle owners who enter the environmental zone with a yellow sticker.
Environment Minister Sander had requested the state capital by decree to limit all cars with Euro 3 diesel engines. Re-approve the standard with a yellow sticker. Instead, better traffic lights should ensure a 'green wave' and fewer emissions. The ban was introduced in Hanover by the SPD and the Greens.
