ÖkoGlobe Eco Globe for ecological innovations

D 2010 was the fourth time he was called the Eco Globe awarded. This international environmental award for the mobility industry was brought to life by the action artist HA Schult and honors companies that show a special commitment in the field of ecological innovations.
Car2Go, fuel cell, E-Smart and hybrid drive ensure victory
The Öko Globe jury includes representatives from the Automobil-Club Verkehr, DEVK-Versicherung and the Öko Globe Institute of the University of Duisburg-Essen under the direction of Ferdinand Dudenhöffer. The Daimler Group (Mercedes and Smart) presented itself with a total of eight Eco Globes in the past four years as particularly committed to sustainable innovations. With an Öko Globe each, the rental car offer Car2Go , the use of the Smart as an electric car, the development of Mercedes fuel cell vehicles in small series and the use of the lithium-ion battery in Mercedes S 400 Hybrid Appreciated.
According to the evaluation by the University of Duisburg-Essen, the BMW Group ranks second on the Öko Globe best list with awards for the large-scale test with 600 electric minis, for the Efficient Dynamics strategy to reduce the Fuel consumption and for BMW Hydrogen. As part of this program, BMW converted a 7 Series to run on hydrogen.
Toyota took first place among importers
Ford and Volkswagen were also awarded prizes for their innovations sustainable production and commitment to natural gas vehicles. Ford's electric car strategy also had a positive impact. At the Öko Globe, Opel scores with the long range of the Opel Ampera and the lithium-ion battery concept of the GM group.
Toyota secured the top position in the Öko Globe thanks to the expansion of hybrid technology and the consumption optimization of conventional engines at the importers. An Eco Globe each went to Peugeot, Mitsubishi and Nissan for the market launch of an electric car.
According to Ferdinand Dudenhöffer from the University of Duisburg-Essen, the results are proofthe Öko Globe evaluation that automobile manufacturers are increasingly devoting themselves to the topic of sustainable mobility.
