Chrysler Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR lap record

2 008 has Dodge hat with the Viper SRT10 ACR the lap record for street-legal series vehicles on the Nordschleife. The Nürburgring lap time of the 2008 Viper of 7.22.1 minutes has meanwhile been undercut several times. Most recently on August 31, 2011 by Lexus test driver Akira Iida, who lapped the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in 7: 14.64 minutes with the Lexus LFA with the Nürburgring performance package. But the record is held by a German vehicle with 7.11 minutes - more on that at the end of the article.
Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR is ten seconds faster
Although the Dodge Viper is no longer built Chrysler's Performance Department - Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) - once again completed a two-day record drive on the Nordschleife. The Americans were supported by Michael Mintgen and his team Vulkan-Racing-Mintgen-Motorsport. Finally, on September 14, 2011, Dominik Farnbacher improved the Nordschleife lap time by ten seconds to 7:12:13 minutes with the 2010 version of the Dodge Vipder SRT10 ACR.
The record-breaking vehicle is again an in US street legal racing version of the Viper SRT10 with the abbreviation ACR, for American Club Racer. However, the 2010 version of the 600 hp sports car differs from the former record-breaking car, among other things in terms of the transmission, which has a shorter gear ratio for the Nordschleife and a shortened gear lever. In addition, the aerodynamics of the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR have been better tailored to the conditions of the Eifel route. Information on the tires was not given.
Viper racing version is significantly faster
Even if for Dodge works drivers Kuno Wittmer was new to the Nordschleife, he was able to prove his skills in the Eifel. The Canadian drove the Dodge Viper racing version ACR-X, the Cup car, on the Nordschleife with a lap time of 7.03 minutes.

The The Gumpert Apollo Sport set the record for the fastest lap time of a production road model on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife on August 13, 2009.
