Deloran DMC-12 should cost around 100,000 euros

In a small series of 300 copies and At a unit price of around 100,000 euros, the DMC-12 is to roll off the production line again as a replica from 2017. This said D eLorean CEO Stephen Wynne in a radio interview. The order books for the new edition have now been opened. Customers can register without obligation. However, the new DeLorean DMC-12 will not come onto the market with the original weak Euro V6 engine with 132 hp. There are currently two units to choose from, both of which would deliver more than twice the performance of the original.

The new edition of the DeLorean DMC-12 enables a new approval regulation in the USA. It allows small series manufacturers who are registered as such with the NHTSA to build replicas in an annual edition of a maximum of 325 copies. The replica model may not be younger than 25 years old and may not be offered as a kit. The drive train must also comply with the applicable emissions regulations and the manufacturer has to document the production to the NHTSA without any gaps. Furthermore, he must have the license rights for the replica. The DeLorean Motor Company, based in Texas, acquired this for an unspecified amount at the end of 2015 after a legal dispute with John DeLorean's widow. This was preceded by a dispute over brand names and trademark rights.

So far, DeLorean has only restored old models

Already in 2013 DeLorean had announced the DeLorean DMC-12 to be launched as a purely electric vehicle with the familiar body, even a corresponding model was tested on the road - there was never series production. The DeLorean Motor Company in Humble, Texas currently only restores DMC-12 models and sells replacement parts.
