More modern engines from Untertürkheim
The production of engines, transmissions, axles and components is being comprehensively realigned and capacities expanded. In addition, the assembly capacities for engines at the Untertürkheim location will be increased significantly. The plant will expand its engine portfolio with two new gasoline units and a new four-cylinder diesel engine. In terms of transmissions, the plant will concentrate on the exclusive production of rear automatic transmissions and will set up additional assembly lines in the coming years. For this purpose, further investments in the billions are planned in the coming years.
In return for the investments, the employees have agreed to increased flexibility and the outsourcing of parts of production. This should save a three-digit million amount by 2020.
