2009 was due to the premium manufacturer's EBIT the global car crisis slumped to a deficit of 1.5 billion euros.

The loss in 2009 was 2.6 Billion euros

All in all, Daimler posted a loss of 2.6 billion euros. In the previous year, the Stuttgart-based company had achieved earnings after taxes of 1.4 billion euros. Sales fell from 98.5 billion to 78.9 billion euros. Group sales fell by 25 percent to 1.6 billion vehicles. The number of employees fell by six percent to 256,400.

I In the current fiscal year, Daimler wants to increase sales and revenue again. An exact forecast for 2010 was not presented. The automaker said, however, that revenues will not yet return to 2008 levels. Because of the negative business development, Daimler does not want to distribute a dividend for 2009 (previous year: 0.60 euros). The employees of Daimler AG, however, receive a one-time special payment of 500 euros. The stock market reacted disappointed to the numbers. The shares fell in early trading by over eight percent to 30.30 euros.
