D he newly developed drive concept combines the electric motor, gearbox and power electronics into one unit, which saves many components. At the same time, the weight of the drive has been reduced by around 15 percent.

Production takes place in China

The compact one and cost-effective system is scalable according to Continental and covers all power levels in the range from about 60 to 120 kW. It can therefore be used in a wide range of vehicles, from plug-in hybrids to powerful electric vehicles. Depending on the application, the drive is available with two motor variants: an asynchronous machine (ASM) and a permanently excited synchronous machine (PSM).

The specific customer applications are developed at Continental in China, where the new motor is also developed with Chinese suppliers is produced.
