M with the 5.30 meter long, two meter wide and just 1.40 meters high Metropolis shows Citroen how to imagine the luxury sedan of the future. The model, which can be seen for the first time in Europe at the Geneva Motor Show, was drawn by a French design team in Shanghai. The Citroen Metropolis should also reflect the ambition and size of China.
Developed in China
The Metropolis follows the design specifications of the recently presented studies High Rider and Survolt. Strongly shaped wheel arches, narrow headlight bands and a flat roof line that extends far into the stub tail characterize the French. Smooth surfaces alternate with sharp edges and sensual curves. Specifically used chrome decorative elements, for example on the window edges, set luxury accents.
In the trunk lid, an active spoiler ensures downforce if required. The lamellar rear lights in boomerang shape give the rear view of the Citroen Metropolis an unmistakable note.
The interior of the Citroen Metropolis is luxurious with an oriental touch, promises Citroen. But there is nothing to see of it ..
Citroen Metropolis: The hybrid system output is 460 hp
A plug-in hybrid drive train works under the bonnet. This couples a two-liter V6 with 272 hp and 375 Nm with an electric motor, which brings a continuous output of 40 kW and a peak output of 70 kW to the start. Citroen puts the total system performance at 460 hp and 430 Nm. This means that the hybrid should be on a par with a four-liter V8. The French put the average consumption of the drivetrain at 2.6 liters per 100 kilometers, the CO2 emissions should be 70 g /km.
Designed as a full hybrid, the Metropolis can be purely electric, in combined operation and also act exclusively with his internal combustion engine. The two motors also allow operation in all-wheel drive mode. An electronically controlled seven-speed dual clutch transmission is responsible for power transmission. In the Citroen Metropolis, too, a hydractive chassis ensures the usual driving comfort.
If the voices from the corporate environment are to be believed, a production version of the Citroen Metropolis is written into the future schedule of the French as DS9.
