This four-cylinder petrol engine is also available in the P eugeot RCZ as well as in the Mini with 211 HP.
Citroën DS3 Racing gives an outlook on the new rally car
The development of the little sports car was the responsibility of the engineers at Citroën Racing. The motorsport department that is already responsible for five design titles in the World Rally Championship draws. Citroen works driver Sébastien Loeb and co-driver Daniel Elena have also drifted to six drivers' world championship titles in a row over the past six years. With the DS3 Racing, Citroën gives an outlook on the upcoming rally cars, because in 2011 the French will be at the start with a World Rally Car (WRC) based on the DS3. The first, still secret, tests with the new Citroën WRC have already taken place. At the wheel sat record world champion Sébastian Loeb (click here for the video of the rally -Citroen DS3 WRC ).
The street version, the DS3 Racing, already celebrated its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. The well-known 1.6-liter turbo engine does its job under the hood. Its performance grew in the hallowed halls of Citroën Racing by an impressive 30 percent from 156 to 207 hp. At the same time, the maximum torque increased by almost 15 percent: from 240 to 275 Newton meters. The four-cylinder owes this increase in performance to a modified turbocharger and adapted engine software. The special exhaust system also contributes additional horsepower.
Citroën DS3 Racing with wider track and disengageable ESP
The 3.96 meter long racing dwarf appears much more beefy than the series derivative. The front and rear track grew by 30 millimeters each, while a sports suspension lowers the center of gravity by 15 millimeters. 18-inch, orange-painted light alloy wheels fill the wheel arches. The specially tuned shock absorbers, in conjunction with the more direct steering, should enable particularly dynamic driving behavior. TheCitroën's motorsport department adapted the braking system of the DS3 to the increased performance potential. A four-piston system with perforated brake discs is used at the front. The Citroën DS3 Racing also has the rear perforated discs.
Sports drivers can look forward to the newly tuned ESP, which, according to Citroën, can also be completely deactivated. Numerous exposed carbon parts are intended to give the Citroën DS3 Racing additional sporty flair. Part of the front bumper and the flared fenders are made of carbon fiber. The orange painted roof and various stickers should create a rally feeling.
Bucket seats in the interior
In the interior, the Citroën DS3 Racing sets itself apart from the normal production models with numerous accessories . Parts of the dashboard trim, the steering wheel and the armrests are made of exposed carbon. Sporty seats should provide the necessary lateral support when driving over the private special stage. The striking coloring of the DS3 Racing is also continued in the interior. The entire dashboard shines in bright orange.
Citroën DS3 Racing: Limited to 2,000 copies
The Citroën DS3 Racing will be available in Germany from the end of 2010 in a first worldwide limited to 2,000 copies in the trade. All vehicles intended for the German market have already been sold. Orders for 2011 are now possible. The price for the almost completely equipped Sport DS3: 29,990 euros. A convertible version of the sports dwarf is also possible for 2011.
Citroën DS3 on the market since March

The DS3 is initially being offered with three petrol engines with 95 hp to 156 hp and two diesels that produce 92 hp or112 hp are coming. This means that the DS3 can reach speeds of up to 214 km /h, and the most economical version is satisfied with 3.8 liters (CO2 emissions: 99 g /km).
