The Chrysler 3 00C had to adapt, adapt to European tastes, because from autumn the US limousine will be launched in Europe under the flag of Lancia. The image change from edgy macho to Italian gigolo goes hand in hand with a clearly rounded body line.
Chysler 300 with softer lines
The narrow window band has become wider, the radiator grille rounder, the mighty wheel arches filigree and the face softer. In addition, the new main headlights now have fashionable LED daytime running light garlands. The technical connection to the Mercedes E-Class is also taboo with the model change. The platform under the sheet metal is shared by the new Chrysler 300, which loses the C in the model name when changing models, with the Dodge Charger. The basic engine is the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which generates 286 hp and 354 Nm of torque. The top engine is a 5.7 liter V8 with 360 hp and 528 Nm torque. A new three-liter V6 turbodiesel with four-valve technology is being added for Europe, which was developed by the Italian engine specialist VM Motori. This has an output of 250 hp and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. Gear changes should do a five-speed automatic. On the US market, the sedan, like its predecessor, will be offered with rear-wheel and optional all-wheel drive.
Upgraded interior
The interior of the nearly five-meter-long Chrysler 300 has been enhanced with upgraded to new materials and new fabrics. In addition, navigation and control elements from the new Dodge Charger find their way into the Chrysler 300. A revised noise insulation should make the Chrysler 300 into a whisper mobile in the interior. Front, side and curtain airbags and a knee airbag for the driver ensure the safety of the passengers. The base price for the Chrysler 300 is around 28,000 dollars in the USA, the V8 variant is available from 39,000 dollars. How the European Lancia version will differ from the US model is not yet known. But one thing is clear: the Thesis successor will also be a car for very special customers.
