A n the Côte d'Azur is a lot all summer going in the water. But from September 11 to 16, the ports of Cannes will be a bit more crowded than usual. At the Cannes Yacht Festival, the big boat builders meet once a year to present their new models to the public. As always, numerous world and European premieres can be seen.

Test drive in the Mediterranean

Thanks to the collectors The 'SolarImpact' yacht drives on the roof with the energy of the sun. The range is therefore unlimited.

In contrast to auto shows, the exhibits at boat shows are not just parked on the dry dock. Most of the more than 600 yachts are in the water and can be booked for demo trips - at least if there is an honest interest in buying.

The millionaires are spoiled for choice. Whether super-fast carbon speed boats, luxurious mega yachts or elegant tall ships - there is something for every taste in Cannes. However, you have to bring a suitably large wallet. Incidentally, the prices of most yachts are only available on request. After all, it always depends on the individual equipment.

Driving or flying over the water

One of the stars of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2019 is the so-called 'Foiler' yacht. Thanks to the extendable wings, the sporty motorboat can float 1.5 meters above the surface of the water in so-called flight mode. The reduced resistance ensures top speeds of more than 40 knots.

Those who like it a little more relaxed and want less environmentally harmful drivesthe SolarImpact yacht is perhaps more suitable for them. However, only a virtual 3D model of the futuristic 24-meter boat, which, as the name suggests, runs on solar energy can be viewed in Cannes.

In our gallery we show you what else is sailing around at the Yacht Festival off the coast of Cannes.
