Sales of the core brand BMW fell by 11.1 percent to 1.069 million cars and thus more than those of the British subsidiary Mini. In 2009 around 217,000 M ini delivered to customers, a decrease of 6.8 percent compared to the previous year.

BMW 5 Series should contribute to growth

In the past few months, the first signs of a market recovery have been seen, said Sales Director Ian Robertson: 'We are therefore going into the new year a little more optimistically than we were in 2009.' The new generation of the BMW is supposed to grow 5er series. The expected increase in business customer demand could have a positive effect. As before, the companies are badly affected by the crisis and spending on company cars will likely remain limited, Robertson dampened too great an optimism. The manager does not expect the markets to return to a level comparable to before the crisis until 2011 at the earliest.
