BMW M GmbH: Franciscus van Meel succeeds Markus Flasch

At BMW there is another change of boss at BMW M GmbH. Van Meel is returning to the M chief post, which he held from 2015 to 2018. Markus Flasch is moving to the parent company.

Franciscus van Meel will again take over as CEO of BMW M GmbH effective November 1, 2021. He succeeds Markus Flasch, who is leaving the top position at M GmbH after three years and moving to complete vehicle development at BMW. There, Flasch will take over management of the Rolls-Royce product line, BMW luxury and luxury class and, in the future, the BMW mid-range product line as well. During his tenure on the management board of BMW M GmbH, the company rose to become the world's leading supplier of performance and high-performance automobiles.

van Meel is to electrify M models

For Franciscus van Meel it is a return to the top post of BMW M GmbH. From 2015 to 2018 he had already managed the BMW subsidiary for sporty automobiles. In the meantime, van Meel was responsible, among other things, as product line manager for Rolls-Royce and the BMW luxury and upper class. In this function, Van Meel was also responsible for the development of purely electrically driven models and the electrification of the series. With this experience, he should also advance the electrification of the BMW M models.
