D he new plant in Hungary, around 230 kilometers east of Budapest, will have a capacity of up to 150,000 units per year and more than 1,000 jobs.

Production of all drives possible

At the new location in Hungary, vehicles with combustion engines and electrified drives should be able to be built on one line. The new plant will produce BMW models and is intended to give the carmaker greater capacity in its global production network. The plants in Dingolfing, Regensburg, Munich and Leipzig are reaching their capacity limits. At the time of the start of production, the new plant should set standards in flexibility, digitization and productivity. BMW did not announce which specific models are to be built there.

Construction work should start in a year or more. When production should start there, BMW still left open. The decision to locate Debrecen was made for reasons of a very good infrastructure, proximity to the supplier network and qualified local workforce.
