E Electromobility is not just a topic of the future for cars. At BMW, which also builds motorcycles, the focus is increasingly on e-drives for two-wheelers as well. At the EICMA motorcycle fair, Bavaria has now presented the eRR test vehicle.
The superbike with a purely electric drive was developed in cooperation with the Technical University of Munich. BMW used the successful S 1000 RR series model, which is equipped with a one-liter, four-cylinder, four-stroke combustion engine with around 200 hp as the basis for BMW. The conventional drive was thrown out, a powerful electric motor moved into the aluminum chassis. Otherwise, the eRR is very similar to the base. Only the green and white coloring and the lack of an exhaust system indicate the zero-emission drive. However, the Bavarians do not provide any information on the technology of the test vehicle. Only so much has been published. Even the standard electric scooter BMW C Evolution leathers the 200 hp combustion bike in sprints up to 60 km /h. The eRR should go a little further.
BMW G310 R is new entry-level model
Bakes smaller rolls BMW with the new G310 R, which, as an entry-level model, is said to stink against KTM and with which BMW has ventured below 500 cc for the first time. The 313 cc single cylinder works with four-valve technology and injection. The cylinder inclined to the rear and the inlet at the front make it distinctive. If the single is turned up to 9,500 rpm, it should deliver 34 hp and 28 Nm of torque. The single cylinder should withstand a maximum of 10,500 rpm. It is shifted by a six-speed gearbox. A balance shaft keeps the vibrations in check.
The look of the 158.5 kilogram BMW G310 R is based on a moderate Supermoto look. In the tubular steel frame there is a 41 mm upside-down fork (140 mm travel) at the front, an aluminum swing arm with a directly hinged spring strut (131 mm travel) at the rear. Brake power supported by ABS as standard is provided by a 300 disc with four-piston fixed calliper at the front and a 240 disc with a two-piston floating caliper at the rear. The advertising business takes over a liquid crystal display. The 17-inch cast wheels are fitted with 110/70 tires at the front and 150/60 tires at the rear. The seat height can be varied between 760 and 815 mm with different benches. A 785 mm version is fitted ex works.
The BMW G310 R is manufactured by cooperation partner TVSMotor Company in India. Prices have not yet been announced.
