
B MW has had a model with the 7 series for four decades the upper class at the start. The 7 Series came onto the market as a direct successor to the BMW 2500 in 1977. In 2017 BMW is celebrating the anniversary of the 7 Series with a special model. The BMW 7 Series Edition 40 years is celebrating its world premiere at the IAA 2017 in Frankfurt.
From October 2017 onwards, the edition models will be available with either a normal or long wheelbase, in conjunction with all six, Eight- and twelve-cylinder engines and, on request, also available with all-wheel drive. The special edition, limited to 200 copies, is built at the Dingolfing plant. Individual customer requests should be taken into account.
Special paintwork and individual interior
One of the special features of the BMW 7 Series Edition 40 years is a special paintwork. The colors Frozen Silver metallic or Petrol Mica metallic are available here. The special paint finishes are combined with an aerodynamic package from the M shelf, the BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line and 20-inch BMW Individual light alloy wheels in V-spoke design. Another design feature on the exterior is the edition logo, specially designed for the model anniversary, on the covers of the B-pillars and on the door sills.

In the interior, BMW upgrades the already luxurious 7 Series even further. As standard on board is a full leather interior, which is available in the color combinations smoke white /Cohiba or smoke white /black with hand-woven piping in smoke white. The BMW 7 Series Edition 40 years also has aSmoke white Alcantara roof lining. The models of the BMW 7 Series Edition 40 Years are also equipped with comfort seats both in the front and in the rear. The redesigned interior is rounded off by new trim strips.
And so that every owner of a special model always remembers what kind of exclusive model he is driving, the editions have an edition logo on the dashboard on the passenger side . The exclusive flair is rounded off by two white comfort cushions from BMW Individual Manufaktur, which, like the headrests, also have the Edition logo, as well as new floor mats.
In addition, all Edition 7s can still be out of the normal equipment - and accessories program can be individually equipped. BMW has not yet announced prices for the 7-series special model.
6 generations of BMW 7-series

The first BMW 7 Series was launched in 1977 as the E23. The second model generation followed in 1986 under the abbreviation E32 and for the first time with a long wheelbase. In addition, Bavaria's first V12 engine made its debut in the E32 in the post-war era. In the Goldfisch study, the E32 was even fitted with a 16-cylinder engine. In 1994 the model change to the E38. In 2001, the BMW 7 Series came out as the E65 with the extremely controversial bangle design. The F01 from 2008 brought for the first time a hybrid option, the latest 7-generation, the G11, has been available since 2015.
