M with the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé the Munich poachers in the area of Mercedes CLS and Audi A7. Although the design is always a question of individual taste, BMW is likely to have achieved a great success with the four-door version of the 6 Series.

What can already be viewed with pleasure from the outside continues behind the doors. The scent of leather, fine wood and aluminum applications and the comfortable seats create a feel-good atmosphere. The wide center console, the large flat screen and the many small control buttons make the driver the ruler of a command bridge. It was to be expected that the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé would not be stingy on the inside either. And what else does the interior have to offer?

BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé - space and feeling of space

We boarded the interior - this is what makes the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé so special - via four doors. These open at almost a 90-degree angle at the front and back, making getting in child's play. At the front, the Gran Coupé resembles the normal BMW 6 Series, with a wide center console separating the driver and front passenger. However, there is no feeling of tightness, thanks to the low seating position, the roof does not come too close to the skin, even for tall people.

Entry is similarly easy at the rear. The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé has eleven centimeters more wheelbase than the two-door. Large passengers should still like the first row better, but apart from the tight footwell and the lower headroom due to the sloping roof, it can also be traveled in the rear. Shortcoming: You look in vain for handles above the doors. Quite useful in fast corners and when getting out of the car, it was probably omitted for aesthetic reasons.

There is space for small items in the doors, in the glove and in the center armrest on the back seat. Unfortunately only for small items. Only the lockable compartment in the center console has a little more storage space. When it comes to storage space in the rear compartment, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé doesn't have to hide from any competitor. The trunk can be opened remotely with the key, at the push of a button in the cockpit or directly on the tailgate and has a loading capacity of 460 liters. If you need more, pull a lever in the trunk and fold the rear seat back. Then the trunk swallows up to 1,265 liters. The loading floor is not completely level, the heightthe loading sill and the size of the trunk opening are okay.

BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé - Operation

It It's been a long time since BMW complained about the iDrive called turn-push actuator. Today the system is fully developed and the infotainment unit can be operated easily and intuitively. A new navigation destination can therefore be entered quickly in the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé, and the route is calculated in fractions of a second. It is also not necessary to look at the operating instructions to connect to Bluetooth-enabled devices.

But that does not apply in principle, because the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé offers - depending on the equipment - an almost unmanageable number of functions. For example, adjusting the seats or the audio system can take a few minutes. Thigh support, lumbar support, side bolsters in the seats or the raising and lowering of up to eight frequency ranges of the Bang & Olufsen audio system - you can get lost in such numerous possibilities.

The many control buttons for the assistance systems or the air conditioning deserve praise. They are sufficiently large and easily accessible, feel great and give the impression that they will do so for years to come.

However, we found a particularly noteworthy shortcoming in the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé: the four-door coupé is not size compatible. With her height of just 1.60 meters, colleague Dervisevic had serious problems finding a suitable seat setting. Sufficient overview of the environment? Nothing. Their verdict: Just to be on the safe side, sit in the passenger seat
