E rst vor Google parent Alphabet recently outsourced the Google car project to its newly founded subsidiary Waymo. This is already working with the car company Fiat-Chrysler.

Honda wants Waymo control technology

Now the Japanese car manufacturer Honda is also showing interest in the American technology. The focus is on the integration of sensor technology, operating platform and software from Waymo in models of the Japanese. The Japanese carmaker announced on Wednesday (December 21, 2016) that formal negotiations had begun. Should both sides come to an agreement, the company's engineers would work closely together in the future.

In return, the Japanese want to make appropriately converted vehicles available for fleet tests. Honda plans to come onto the market with the first autonomous driving models around 2020.
