D he maximum torque of the five-rod should be 650 Nm lie. It is shifted manually through six gears. Power is transmitted by a permanent all-wheel drive with a multi-plate clutch on the rear axle. The TT Clubsport Turbo show car has an unladen weight of 1,396 kilograms thanks to its systematic lightweight construction. It does the standard sprint from 0 to 100 km /h in 3.6 seconds, the propulsion only ends at 310 km /h.

E-charger plugs the turbo lag

The advantages of the electric bi-turbo should be particularly at low speeds, because, according to the manufacturer, it has practically no turbo lag and should therefore offer thrust from idle. Because the electric charger (EPC) always intervenes in a supportive manner when the exhaust gas flow does not yet provide enough power for the conventional charger. Thanks to this principle, conventional turbochargers can be designed more for high boost pressures and thus high engine performance - the e-turbo ensures spontaneous response and powerful sprints from low speeds. Audi speaks of 200 Nm, which the EAV also brings at low speeds and illustrates the effect as follows: In the first 2.5 seconds from the start, the TT Clubsport drives up to 16 meters from the start, six meters further than a comparable car without EAV . This corresponds to a difference of around one and a half TTs - or three times the width of the TT Clubsport: At 1.97 meters, it is 14 centimeters longer than the standard model.

Juice for the e-charger is supplied by a 48 volt sub-grid. A lithium-ion battery in the luggage compartment stores the energy that is generated by recuperation during overrun. A DC /DC converter establishes the connection to the 12-volt on-board power supply.

But the Clubsport Turbo can also produce sound, because the racing silencer leads to the outside via a side pipe. A coilover suspension with a lift function takes account of the Wörthersee event and is intended to optimize road holding. 20-inch rims with 275/30 tires keep the road contact. The stoppers are made of carbon ceramic and have a diameter of 370 mm on the front axle.

Audi TT Clubsport Turbo with a bold look

And because the Audi TT Clubsport Turbo is a show car, sets he also used show elements. Thick fender cheeks let the TT grow in width. Lush spoilers signal the effort toaerodynamic optimization at high speeds. Carbon makes the lightweight construction visible. The interior is characterized by two racing seat shells and a cage made of titanium tubes. Alcantara and more carbon create a racing feeling inside. An eye-catcher: The aluminum shift lever in the open shift gate.

The According to Audi, the electric charger is about to go into series production in TDI engines . With the Wörthersee study, the Ingolstadt-based company wants to show the potential of this technology in turbo gasoline engines.
