G at the same time granted by Audi with the Crosslane Coupé a preview of the upcoming Audi Q2, because with a length of 4.21 meters, 1.88 meters in width and 1.51 meters in height, the three-door SUV study is smaller than an Audi Q3.

The space frame consists of an aluminum structure around the passenger cell and the accident-absorbing crash elements at the front and rear made of carbon and glass fiber reinforced plastic. The Audi-typical single-frame grill, made of aluminum, takes on a supporting function. Thanks to this construction, the total weight of the study should be 1,390 kilograms - including the batteries for the electric motors.

Audi Crosslane Coupé should drive up to 86 km purely electrically

Speaking of electric motors. The Audi Crosslane Coupé has two of them on board. One is directly coupled to the combustion engine and can act as a generator to relieve the batteries or supply them with electricity. The other drives the concept car solo up to a speed of 55 km /h, according to Audi up to 86 kilometers.

If the speed increases, the 1.5 liter three-cylinder TFSI is simultaneously coupled to the drive train. From a speed of 130, the 130-hp engine (200 Nm torque) then mainly provides the drive energy. According to Audi, the hybrid has a total system output of 177 hp. This means that the Audi Crosslane Coupé should accelerate from zero to 100 km /h in 8.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 182 km /h and be satisfied with gasoline consumption of just 1.1 L /100 km (CO2 emissions: 26 g /km).

SUV study shows design of future Q models

According to the Ingolstadt-based company, the Audi Crosslane Coupé visually indicates the design of future Q models. The single-frame grille integrates several cross struts and is flanked by two narrow LED headlights and large air inlets. The very low sills and the wide, steeply inclined C-pillar are noticeable on the side sections. The rear is shaped by an aluminum diffuser.

There are additional carbon elements in the interior of the Audi Crosslane Coupé. The driver and front passenger sit on sports seats with integrated headrests. The center console houses the gear selector lever, which extends automatically when the vehicle is started, and a large touchscreen. The controls of the air conditioning are with smallDisplays equipped. Behind the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, which is equipped with touch-sensitive surfaces, digital instruments are used that combine power, speed and navigation displays.

The Crosslane Coupé does not have a back seat. Instead, it offers enough space behind the two seats to neatly stow the roof area between the A and C-pillars in the rear compartment.
